Hi, I’m Michaela Crutchley
I grew up in Germany and began my physiotherapy career working in private practice at University Nurnberg in a rehab hospital in the Black Forest. I moved to New Zealand in 1999 and after gaining experience at Timaru Hospital and in Older Persons Health in Christchurch, I joined the You First Physio team in 2007. My clinical background is broad, covering orthopaedics, neurology, psychiatry, amputee care, and acute rehab.
I have a particular interest in treating back and upper limb injuries, where I focus on hands-on techniques like myofascial release and trigger point treatments alongside exercise prescription. In 2019, I also completed my Yoga Therapy Teacher training to incorporate more holistic elements into my practice.

Yoga, reading, music, dance, travel, hiking, walking and riding my bike.
I enjoy being part of a dynamic, dedicated team. I have worked out at the Longhurst site for the past 5 years and love the team approach there. We have a multidisciplinary team that have gelled into great friends as well as work colleagues.
